Bhubaneswar: Shefeen Ahamed K, IPS, a 2003-batch Odisha-cadre officer serving as Inspector General of Police, CID-CB, Odisha, passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.As per reports, a native of Kerala, the 2003-batch IPS officer had been suffering from cancer. He was posted as Inspector General in the Crime Branch of Odisha Police since July 2023.An engineering graduate and son of Habib, a CITU leader, Shefeen Ahamed K had earlier served in Kerala on inter-cadre deputation for a few years, including as Superintendent of Police (Rural), Thiruvananthapuram. He was recognised with several honours and medals for his work in the Cyber Crime division and CID-CB.Expressing grief over his untimely demise, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi wrote on X: “Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Shefeen Ahamed K, IPS, I.G. of Police, CID, CB. His dedicated service to the State and Odisha Police will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.”Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo also paid tributes on X, stating: “Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Shefeen Ahamed K, IPS, I.G. of Police, CID, CB. His unwavering dedication and distinguished service to the State and Odisha Police will forever be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and loved ones. May his noble soul rest in eternal peace.”
