Panic gripped parts of the Sunabeda forest area in Nuapada district after a youth from Gadabhata Pada was critically injured in a wild bear attack while grazing cattle.The victim, identified as Harendra Majhi, was attacked suddenly by a bear, sustaining deep injuries to his head and eyes. Locals rushed him to the Sunabeda health centre, where he received first aid before being referred to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital due to his serious condition.However, family members alleged that no ambulance arrived promptly to transport the injured youth, leaving them anxious as his condition worsened.Following the incident, fear has spread across Gadabhata Pada and nearby villages amid reports of increased bear movement in the region. Residents have urged the Forest Department to monitor wildlife activity and issue safety advisories for villagers who venture into the forest for grazing or daily work.Locals also demanded immediate medical assistance for Harendra Majhi and stronger measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
