Authorities at the Hirakud Dam closed two more sluice gates on Tuesday, reducing the number of operational gates to just two — one on the left and one on the right.Earlier in the morning, four gates were open (three on the left and one on the right), but fresh orders were issued to shut two of them. The reservoir’s water level stood at 624.69 feet and was rising.According to the latest update, the average inflow was recorded at 1,37,750 cusecs (decreasing), while the average outflow stood at 1,26,703 cusecs (falling). Of the total outflow, 91,680 cusecs was released through the spillway, 32,082 cusecs through the power channel, 229 cusecs for industrial use, and 2,712 cusecs through canals.Officials continue to monitor the situation closely as the reservoir level shows a rising trend.
