Odisha Vigilance today apprehended Sanjay Kumar Hansdah, Assistant Drugs Controller/Drug Inspector of Jajpur (with additional charge of Jagatsinghpur), while accepting a Rs 6,000 bribe to facilitate issuance of a wholesale medicine licence.Hansdah was nabbed at Jaipur Chhak on NH‑53 near Paradeep‑Cuttack after demanding the bribe from an applicant who had applied for a drug licence in May 2025. The complainant, harassed by repeated demands, reported the matter to Vigilance authorities.On Thursday, Hansdah asked the complainant to meet him at Jaipur Chhak. Inside his Wagon R car (OD‑2L‑3325), he accepted the bribe money, which was immediately recovered by the Vigilance team.Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched at Hansdah’s office and residence to examine disproportionate assets.A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 at Kataka Vigilance PS (Case No.34 dated 02.09.2026).
