Koraput : Reinforcing its commitment to a safer electricity distribution network, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has established a dedicated Safety Innovation & Testing Hub in Koraput in partnership with Jayco Safety Products Pvt. Ltd. The facility will enable in- house testing and certification of electrical insulating rubber hand gloves and other equipments used by frontline employees, strengthening protection against electrical hazards. The hub was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Tushar Kanti Bhattacharyya, Chief – Safety (T&D), Tata Power; Shri Manmatha Nath Mishra, Additional Chief Engineer (Electrical) – Zonal Head, Jeypore & Rayagada along with other senior officials. Mr. Amit kumar Garg, Chief Executive Officer, TPSODL, said, “Safety is at the heart of every operation at TPSODL. The Safety Innovation & Testing Hub is an important step towards strengthening the protection of our frontline employees through testing, validation and continuous improvement. By ensuring that only safe and reliable PPE reaches the field, we are not only protecting our people but also contributing to a safer and more reliable electricity distribution network for the consumers and communities we serve.” The facility will test and validate expired and reusable electrical insulating rubber hand gloves before their deployment in the field. It will verify their dielectric integrity and electrical withstand capability, ensuring that only safe and reliable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used by frontline employees. The initiative will reduce testing turnaround time and dependence on external agencies. It will also support the scientific assessment and safe reuse of serviceable gloves, enabling better utilisation of PPE while maintaining safety standards. For TPSODL, employee safety and consumer service go hand in hand. A well-protected frontline workforce is essential for safe electrical operations, maintenance and service delivery. Through this initiative, TPSODL aims to further strengthen a proactive and evidence-based safety culture across its operations. The hub will also serve as a platform for safety innovation, testing, validation, awareness and best- practice sharing. Systematic testing records and PPE performance tracking will support data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
