Mirzapur: The Movie’ nears Rs 100 crore after strong opening weekend

The film ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu and Ali Fazal, has recorded a robust opening weekend at the box office, amassing Rs 96.85 crore in its first three days, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.Adarsh, in a post on X, described the film’s performance as a “zabardast, dhamakedaar weekend”, highlighting that it will be remembered as the first web series-to-film franchise to achieve such significant numbers in its opening weekend. ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ currently holds the fourth position among the top five opening weekends of 2026, trailing behind ‘Dhurandhar 2’ starring Ranveer Singh, Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’, and the Hindi film ‘Toxic’ led by Yash, but ahead of Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’.The film opened to Rs 27.85 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 32.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 36.50 crore on Sunday, bringing its opening weekend total to Rs 96.85 crore. Additionally, the Telugu version of the film generated Rs 84 lakh over the weekend.‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ continues the narrative of the popular franchise, reuniting key characters such as Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Munna Bhaiya (Divyenndu), and Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal). The plot centres on the battle for control of Mirzapur as new challengers enter the fray.The film was presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, directed by Gurmmeet Singh, and written by Puneet Krishna. It was produced under Excel Entertainment by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani as co-producers. ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ was released in theatres on September 4.
