Encroachments Drive By RSP Continues . RSP Staff Attacked During Anti-Encroachment Drive in Rourkela

Rourkela: The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has continued its drive to remove illegal constructions and encroachments made near sewerage lines, electricity poles, roads and drains in the steel city. However, an RSP employee was allegedly attacked while carrying out an anti-encroachment drive in Sector-2 on Wednesday.The injured employee, identified as Srikant Sarangi, has been admitted to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) for treatment.According to reports, a team from the RSP Town Services Department had reached the Sector-2 area with a bulldozer and JCB to remove an illegal structure constructed in front of a leased quarter. The team reportedly faced opposition during the demolition drive.Some alleged encroachers reportedly abused and attacked two RSP officials, leaving both injured. One of them sustained a serious injury to his chest and was admitted to IGH for treatment.The incident has triggered resentment among RSP employees and officials. RSP authorities have warned that illegal constructions over roads, drains, sewerage lines and near electricity poles will not be permitted.

The RSP has also cautioned that strict action, including cancellation of the lease of the concerned quarter, may be initiated against those found involved in unauthorised construction or encroachment.
