Rayagada, September 12, 2026: East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Parameswar Funkwal on Saturday inspected the Rayagada–Koraput–Jeypore railway section and reviewed safety, train operations, ongoing construction works and passenger amenities along the route.
Funkwal undertook a window-trailing inspection from Rayagada to Jeypore, taking stock of the condition of the track, signalling systems, operational arrangements and infrastructure works.
He reviewed the ongoing doubling work between Singapur Road and Koraput, including major engineering works being executed under the project. The doubling is aimed at enhancing line capacity, improving train operations and strengthening rail connectivity in the region.
The General Manager also reviewed safety measures for ensuring smooth and safe train movement, besides assessing passenger amenities, cleanliness and infrastructure development at stations. He inspected the progress of works being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and stressed timely execution while maintaining quality and work-site safety.
Funkwal directed officials to closely monitor the progress of ongoing projects and ensure their timely completion with minimum inconvenience to passengers.
He also interacted with railway officers and staff and emphasised the need to maintain high standards of safety, reliability and passenger service across the section.
Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Chief Bridge Engineer, Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer (Construction) and other Principal Heads of Departments of ECoR, along with Rayagada Divisional Railway Manager Amitabh Singhal, accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.
