Nuapada police arrested constable Jogendra Bag (39) on charges of duping a local resident of Rs 2 lakh by promising a government job.Bag, serving as constable number 105 at Lakhna police station, was taken into custody on September 12 and produced in court.According to police sources, the complainant from Dangargaon under Sinapali police station alleged on September 11 that Bag had assured him of securing a government job in exchange for money. The complainant transferred Rs 2 lakh to Bag’s SBI account on January 21, 2026. However, Bag neither arranged the job nor returned the money despite repeated requests.During the investigation, police verified the transaction and found sufficient evidence of fraud. Based on this, a case was registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Bag was arrested at 2:10 pm on September 12 and later produced in court. Further investigation into the case is underway.
