Baripada, 20/09/2026:Reckless bike riding on the roads of Baripada has been increasing day by day and has now become a matter of concern for city residents. Complaints have surfaced that some bikers are riding at excessive speeds on busy city roads, suddenly overtaking other vehicles, riding in a zigzag manner, driving on the wrong side of the road and moving ahead at high speed without regard for other road users.
Such riding is causing difficulties for everyone, from pedestrians to other vehicle drivers. The problem has been further aggravated by the use of modified silencers on some motorcycles. It has been alleged that motorcycles fitted with such modified silencers produce excessively loud and harsh sounds while being ridden on the roads instead of the normal silencer sound. Pedestrians are often seen getting startled by the sudden, frightening noise produced when these motorcycles pass at high speed.
Residents have particularly complained about the disturbance caused when such motorcycles pass through residential areas at night. Apart from modified silencers, growing concern is also being expressed over violations of traffic rules in the city. Residents believe that regular checks should be conducted regarding helmet use, essential vehicle documents, number plates and reckless riding.
Many people feel that if the fear of facing consequences for violating traffic rules decreases, reckless riding may increase further.
In this situation, there is growing demand among residents for more regular and visible traffic checking in the areas under Baripada Town Police Station, Bhanjpur Police Station and Baripada Sadar Police Station. Residents complain that in some areas, the level of monitoring of bikers violating traffic rules is not as strict as it should be.
At the same time, the possibility that police are already taking action against traffic violations cannot be overlooked. However, residents now want such enforcement to be more visible on the city’s roads.
A question is increasingly being raised among the general public: will action be taken only after a major accident occurs, or will reckless riders be brought under control before such an incident happens? Residents believe that regular checking on city roads, inspections against modified silencers and lawful action against reckless driving are necessary to restore traffic discipline in Baripada.
Strict action is necessary against such vehicle riders.
