SUBARNAPUR — One person was arrested for illegal sale and trafficking of arms, while two were arrested for illegal smuggling of cough syrup.The incident of illegal sale and trafficking of arms took place in the area of Sonpur police station, while the smuggling of cough syrup took place in the area of Tarbha police station. According to information received from police sources, on 22.09.2026, while on patroling duty, Sonpur police received information from reliable sources about some people being involved in illegal sale and trafficking of arms near Baidyanath Telnadi Bridge. Based on the said information, the police team immediately went to the spot. On seeing the police team, two people fled from the spot, while the police arrested Satyaram Chaulia (23). During his search, one pistol ( approximate barrel length of 16cm ), 03 live ammunitions marked ” K.F. 7.65″4) and one magazine, cash of Rs. 10,000, one iPhone 17 were recovered from him. The arrested person could not produce any valid license or legal permission to possess the said arms and ammunition. During interrogation, he revealed his involvement in the sale and dealing of illegal arms and ammunition and also revealed that the said arms were used to intimidate people during robberies and robberies. In this regard, a case has been registered under Sonpur PS Case No. 339/22/09/2026 U/s- 25 (1-AA) Arms Act and further investigation is underway.
Similarly, in another incident, based on information from a reliable source, a team of Tarbha police raided Dunguripali Chowk under this police station and arrested two persons with 600 bottles of cough syrup (WINCIREX) during an illegal sale of cough syrup. Debendra Patra (30) and Satyajit Patra (32) of Baladi village of Tarbha police station, Subarnapur district have been arrested. The said two persons could not produce any valid documents for the cough syrup. In this regard, a case has been registered under Tarbha PS Case No. 334/23/09/2026 U/s-21( b)/29 NDPS Act, 1985 and further investigation is underway in this regard. All the arrested accused were produced in court on Wednesday.
