Baripada, September 24: A district-level Science Seminar-2026 was held at the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Science Planetarium in Baripada. Selected meritorious students from 26 blocks of the district participated in the seminar and showcased their scientific thinking, knowledge and talent.
In the competition, Swagatika Panda, a student of Lady Hamilton High School, secured the first position. Brahmashankar Mohanta of OAV Garudabasa, Betanati, stood second, while Pritilata Bindhani of OAV Sanshol, Shamakhunta, secured the third position.
Swagatika Panda, who secured the first position, will represent Mayurbhanj district at the upcoming State-Level Science Seminar to be held at the Regional Science Centre in Bhubaneswar.
The seminar was organised under the direct supervision of District Education Officer Purnachandra Sethi. The participating students presented their views and ideas on various science-related topics. The seminar provided a useful platform to encourage students’ interest in science, research-oriented thinking and creativity.
Education trainers Dr Priya Ranjan Dash, Rupali Patra and Sagar Kumar Dalnayak served as judges for evaluating the presentations and selecting the meritorious participants.
Assistant Curators of the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Science Planetarium Shashanka Sekhar Mohanta and Shubham Chintan Tripathy, along with Satabdi Sadangi and District Science Supervisor Gyanaranjan Acharya, were present on the occasion and encouraged the participating students.
Teachers Manoj Patra, Bhishmadev Mohanta, Ajit Mahanti, Manoj Parida, Basanta Dutta and Atasi Kundu extended active cooperation for the smooth conduct of the seminar.
At the conclusion, teacher Nayan Kumar Giri proposed the formal vote of thanks to all the guests, judges, teachers and participants.
