Bhubaneswar: The state government will expedite damage assessment in rain and flood-affected districts and provide compensation before Dussehra, informed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Friday.The Minister has directed all concerned departments and district administrations to submit their damage reports by October 10.He informed that Rs 261 crore has been disbursed as compensation in the first phase, including Rs 20 crore for South Odisha. Final compensation will be released as soon as the detailed reports are received, he added.Meanwhile, Chandbali BDO Sanjib Kumar Mahapatra has been suspended for negligence during the flood situation. He has been attached to the district headquarters. “Negligence by government officials during a natural disaster is unpardonable,” Minister Pujari said.The Minister also thanked all personnel engaged in flood management, including ASHA and Anganwadi workers, NDRF, ODRAF and government officials and staff.
