District-Level Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti Celebrated

Mass Floral Tributes and Sarva Dharma Prayer Meeting Held
Meritorious Students of Speech Competition Felicitated

Baripada, October 2:
The district-level birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri were observed at Gandhi Park, Baripada, under the supervision of the District Administration. The programme was jointly organised by the District Information and Public Relations Department and Baripada Municipality.

The programme was presided over by District Collector Hemakant Sai. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Smt. Bharati Hansda attended as the chief guest, while Baripada Municipality Chairperson Krishnanand Mohanty attended as the guest of honour.

As part of the celebrations, mass floral tributes were offered at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Kasturba Gandhi. The invited guests and various administrative officials paid their respects by garlanding the statues of the great personalities.

A Sarva Dharma prayer meeting was subsequently held at Gandhi Park. Dr. Bhagabat Panda, Editor of the Pratishruti magazine, recited verses from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, while Maulana Tahir Habib Ali recited selected passages from the Quran. Through the interfaith prayer meeting, a message of peace, tolerance and communal harmony was conveyed.

Students who had secured positions in the speech competition organised earlier on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti were presented with prizes and certificates by the chief guest, guest of honour and the administrative officials present.

Superintendent of Police Barun Guntupalli, Additional District Magistrate Dukhbandhu Nayak, Additional District Magistrate Ishwar Chandra Naik, Executive Officer of Baripada Municipality Debiprasad Rout, along with municipal councillors, were present on the occasion.

The programme was conducted under the coordination of District Information and Public Relations Officer Shishir Kumar Munduya. Staff members of the District Information and Public Relations Office and Baripada Municipality extended their cooperation for the smooth conduct of the programme.
