Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Odisha in-charge D. Purandeswari arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday for a two-day visit to the state. Odishaculture blog She was accompanied by newly appointed co-in-charge Dr Swadesh Singh. The visit comes shortly after the BJP announced a nationwide organisational reshuffle on September 23. Purandeswari and Singh are scheduled to hold a series of meetings at the BJP’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar with Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal, senior party leaders, office-bearers and district-level functionaries. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and members of the state Council of Ministers are also expected to participate in some of the meetings, according to party-related information. Discussions are likely to focus on coordination between the government and the party organisation, upcoming organisational programmes and strengthening the BJP’s grassroots network. Party leaders are also expected to review the organisational structure from the booth to district levels and discuss ways to improve coordination with workers. Preparations for the upcoming panchayat and urban local body elections are also expected to feature prominently in the discussions. The meetings may cover organisational preparedness, outreach programmes and priorities for strengthening the party network at the grassroots level ahead of the local elections. The BJP appointed Purandeswari as its Odisha in-charge and Swadesh Singh as co-in-charge on September 23 as part of a wider organisational reshuffle. They replaced Vijay Pal Singh Tomar and Sushree Lata Usendi, respectively.
