Today i.e 05.10.2026,
a short while ago, Niranjan Singh Revenue Inspector (RI), Keshari Nagar Circle, Unit-VI, Bhubaneswar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.5,000/- from an applicant to process and forward the enquiry report for facilitating issuance of legal heir certificate in his favour following his death of mother and younger brother. The applicant had applied online on 09.09.2026, submitting all necessary documents required for obtaining a legal heir certificate. Following submitting application, the applicant met 3/4 times the RI concerned to forward the enquiry report to the competent authority to get the above certificate. In spite of repeated requests by the applicant, the accused RI Sri Singh was delaying the process for no reason and demanded bribe Rs 5,000/- to forward his application online to the officer concerned. Sri Singh rather insisting on taking bribe from the applicant.
Feeling aggrieved, the applicant ( Complainant) approached the vigilance authorities. On this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Singh while taking bribe Rs.5,000/- from the complt as per latter’s instructions.
Following the trap, searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance at two locations connected to Sri Singh, RI from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 22 dtd. 03.09.2026 u/s 7 P.C. by P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Singh, RI. Detailed report follows.
