Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday launched simultaneous searches at 10 locations linked to Arabinda Mohanty, Executive Engineer of Betanoti R&B Sub-Division under Baripada R&B Division in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During the searches conducted so far, Vigilance officials have unearthed two multi-storeyed buildings, a five-acre farmhouse, 20 high-value plots, Rs 2.77 lakh in cash, a four-wheeler and two two-wheelers linked to Mohanty and his family members. According to Odisha Vigilance, the raids are being carried out by teams comprising five DSPs, eight Inspectors and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada. TravelGuides & Travelogues Simultaneous searches are being conducted at 10 locations across Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Khordha districts. Among the assets unearthed so far is a three-storeyed residential building measuring approximately 3,500 sq ft at Angargadia in Balasore and a two-storeyed building measuring around 1,800 sq ft at Balianta in Khordha district. Vigilance officials also detected a farmhouse spread over five acres at Basantapur in Balasore district. The property reportedly includes two fish ponds and a poultry farm. As many as 20 high-value plots in and around Balasore town have also been detected during the searches. The Vigilance Technical Wing is carrying out measurement, valuation and assessment of the buildings, farmhouse and plots. Apart from Rs 2.77 lakh in cash, officials detected two lockers—one maintained by Mohanty’s spouse and another by one of his associates. The lockers are yet to be opened. Officials are also ascertaining deposits and other investments in financial instruments. A Brezza car and two two-wheelers have also been detected. Searches at 10 Locations:- The Vigilance searches cover Mohanty’s three-storeyed residential building at Angargadia in Balasore, his two-storeyed building at Balianta in Khordha, his office and residence at Betanoti in Mayurbhanj, his paternal house at Rayan-Ramachandrapur in Jaleswar, his farmhouse at Basantapur and another house at Bamapada in Balasore. Properties linked to his associates at Angargadia and Bamapada in Balasore and Baisinga in Mayurbhanj are also being searched. Joined Government Service on Rs 5,000 Monthly Salary:- According to Vigilance, Mohanty, born on December 28, 1966, entered government service on August 4, 1997, as a Junior Engineer (JRY) at Betanoti Block in Mayurbhanj district with an initial monthly salary of Rs 5,000. He was transferred to IDCO, Nabarangpur, in January 1999 and worked there until 2005. Between 2005 and 2012, he served as a Junior Engineer under the Rural Development sections at Bahanaga and Soro in Balasore district. In 2013, Mohanty was promoted to Assistant Engineer and posted at Baisinga RD Section under Baripada RD Division. He was subsequently transferred to Mahidharpur RD Section under Dhenkanal RD Division in 2020 and to Panikoili R&B Division in 2022. He was promoted to Assistant Executive Engineer in 2023 while serving at Panikoili R&B Division and was transferred to Betanoti R&B Sub-Division in January 2025. Mohanty was promoted to the rank of Executive Engineer on September 29, 2026, and has been continuing in the post since then.
