Mumbai Attack mastermind Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi sentenced to 15 years of Jail

Lahore, 8/1 (AO Bureau) In a major development,  Mumbai Attack mastermind Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi was sentenced to 15 years in Prison by Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court.

Lakhvi was arrested on the charges of terror financing by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD)  on 2nd January. He is the operations commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Lakhvi was on bail since 2015 in the 26/11 attack case. He was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department of Punjab province in January amidst a growing international pressure on Pakistan to bring to justice terrorists roaming free in the country.

Recently the UN Security Council’s 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee had allowed 1.5 lakh Pakistani Rupees for Lakhvi to meet his monthly expenses.

Lashkar-e-Taiba which is headed by Hafiz Saeed was responsible for carrying out the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 which shocked the nation. The attack is responsible to kill 166 people.
