In a major development for India’s aviation and infrastructure landscape, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has officially approved a proposal to name the landmark Noida airport as ‘Narendra Modi International Airport’.The greenfield aviation project, situated in Noida-Jewar, serves as the second international airport for the National Capital Region (NCR) alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport. Among the prominent milestones noted were:Religious & Cultural Corridors: The grand expansion of the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple complex, enhanced by direct connectivity via the Ganga Path, alongside the ceremonial hoisting of a religious flag at a major shrine.Buddhist Circuit Advancement: The historic return and development of Piprahwa within the core Buddhist region, complementing the broader expansion of the state’s Buddhist tourism circuit.Grand Gatherings & Shared Heritage: Preparations and execution for the large-scale celebration of the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, as well as the success of the multi-cultural Kashi Tamil Sangamam.Monuments & Memorials: The setup of the Sant Guru Ravidas Museum and statue, alongside the establishment of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Prerna Sthal in Gorakhpur.The Chief Minister also emphasised national recognition conferred on prominent regional leaders, citing the prestigious Bharat Ratna award presented to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh as a proud landmark for Uttar Pradesh.A Modern Aviation Marvel.With the cabinet approval in place, the newly designated Narendra Modi International Airport is set to further solidify NCR’s stance as a global business and transport epicentre.
