Puri, Oct 10: A young man died after being bitten by a king cobra while filming an Instagram Reel with the snake at his home in Puri district, Odisha. The deceased has been identified as Tapan Kumar Pradhan, a resident of Kanthapur village under Puri Sadar police station limits.Tapan was rushed to Puri Hospital after the incident, where doctors declared him dead. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.According to reports, Tapan had experience catching venomous snakes and was often called to rescue snakes that entered residential houses. His family members said he had caught numerous snakes over the years.The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Tapan was handling a cobra on the veranda of his house while recording a Reel. During the filming, the snake bit him on his fingers, elbow and upper arm.Following the bites, his family members rushed him to a private hospital and later shifted him to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.Tapan was reportedly active on Instagram, where he frequently uploaded videos and Reels featuring snakes. Despite his experience in handling venomous reptiles, the incident proved fatal.Puri Sadar police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
