The Bay of Bengal is once again showing signs of a brewing storm!
According to the Meteorological Department, the developing weather system is likely to move west-northwestwards after intensifying into a cyclonic storm.
By the evening of November 2, it is expected to approach the Andhra Pradesh coast over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
The possible cyclone could cross the South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu coasts late on November 2 or during the morning of November 3, according to meteorologist Sarat Sahu.
However, the system is not expected to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm.
While Odisha is not directly in the path of this developing system, its influence could still bring rainfall to several parts of the state.
ODISHA WEATHER ALERT
Southern Odisha could be among the areas watching the skies closely.
On November 3 and 4, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.
Some locations could also experience heavy rainfall.
Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri districts may receive light to moderate showers as well.
According to the current assessment, the rainfall is unlikely to create a flood situation, and its impact is expected to decrease by November 5.
CYCLONE ARNAB: THE AFTERMATH
Meanwhile, Cyclone Arnab, which recently battered parts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, is gradually losing strength.
Its remnants are currently active as a low-pressure area over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining East Madhya Pradesh.
Although Arnab has weakened, its weather effects have not completely disappeared.
The India Meteorological Department has indicated that rainfall could continue across Odisha for the next five days.
ANCHOR OUTRO
One storm is weakening, while another weather system is gathering strength over the Bay of Bengal.
For Odisha, the immediate concern is not a direct cyclone hit, but the possibility of further rainfall in the coming days.
As the new system develops, its movement and intensity will remain crucial in determining the weather conditions along the eastern coast.
