Bangalore, 4/4 (AO Bureau): Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal has been found to be Corona Positive before the start of IPL 2021. Devdutt Padikkal is the third player to be positive with Coronavirus before IPL 2021. Before that, there were reports of Kolkata Knight Riders player Nitish Rana and Delhi Capitals Akshar Patel getting corona infected. Apart from this, 10 employees of Wankhede Stadium have been found to be corona infected. At the same time, six members associated with the competition management appointed by the BCCI have been found positive by this deadly virus. Due to this, the number of positive cases in the IPL has continued to increase.
According to the news of ‘Times of India’, Devdutt Padikkal has isolated himself after being hit by Corona. However, according to sources, Padikkal is expected to be fit till the first match against Mumbai Indians. Royal Challengers Bangalore is scheduled to play their first match on 9 April.
The 20-year-old Padikkal scored 737 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year at an average of 147.4. Left-handed batsman Devdutt hit seven consecutive half-centuries. He has become the first player to score more than 600 runs in two consecutive seasons. Earlier, he had scored 609 runs in 2019. In IPL 2020, Padikkal made his debut on behalf of RCB. He scored 473 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 124.8. He was elected ‘Emerging Player of the Season’.
