Jharsuguda (Correspondent) Nov 23: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari laid the foundation stone for the pavilion at Orient Cricket Ground in Brajrajnagar on Friday. The project, funded by Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) under its Welfare Fund, is estimated to cost ₹1.08 crore and includes the construction of a gallery and compound wall.
The ceremony was presided over by Orient Coalfields General Manager Ajay Joshi, with Minister Suresh Pujari as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit, MCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Uday A Kawale, MCL D (P) Keshav Rao, and Ib Valley Area Additional General Manager Kanhaiya Mishra.
Speaking at the event, Minister Pujari emphasized the need to provide opportunities for local cricket players to secure positions in the Indian cricket team. MP Pradeep Purohit highlighted the importance of engaging local youth in various employment opportunities within MCL-managed companies.
MCL CMD Uday A Kawale announced a grant of ₹1 lakh for purchasing sports equipment for players, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting local talent.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Orient Coalfield Area Personnel Manager Rajesh Kar, while Assistant Personnel Manager Sant Sarkar coordinated the proceedings.
