Dhamra, 11.02.2025: Surendra Rout, a 69-year-old resident of Chhedak village in Odisha, had
been struggling with severe osteoarthritis in both knees for over a decade. His daily life was
marked by persistent pain, stiffness, and difficulty walking, making even simple tasks—such as
getting out of bed or descending stairs—an immense challenge. Despite consulting multiple
orthopedic specialists and trying various medications, he found no lasting relief.
A turning point came when Surendra learned about the physiotherapy services provided by the
Adani Foundation and HelpAge India at the SHU Dhamra Wellness Centre. Holding onto hope
and determination, he decided to give physiotherapy a try. Under the expert guidance of skilled
physiotherapists at the center, he embarked on a comprehensive 20-day treatment plan. His
therapy included Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), Interferential Therapy
(IFT), Ultrasound Therapy (UST), knee isometrics, hot water fermentation, strengthening
exercises, and a structured home exercise regimen.
After just 15 sessions, Surendra experienced a remarkable transformation. His knee pain
subsided significantly, and he regained mobility. Today, he is pain-free and immensely grateful
to the SHU Dhamra Wellness Centre. He extends his heartfelt appreciation to HelpAge India and
the Adani Foundation for their exceptional service and support, which have enabled him to
reclaim his quality of life.
