Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) terminated the driver and guide of a Mo Bus which was involved in an accident that occurred at Mo Bus Master Canteen Depot in Bhubaneswar and left two persons injured. CRUT, which manages the Mo Bus services, shared a press release on its X handle wherein it said, “We regret to report an unfortunate incident that took place today, February 25, 2025 at approximately 10:00 AM at the Master Canteen Bus Terminal. Two passengers were sitting under the bus OD 33 AJ 2671 (Route 23) as it was hot outside. The said bus had 20 minute halt at Master Canteen OD terminal. Without knowing that people are sitting under the bus, the driver started the vehicle and immediately the passengers near the bus alerted the bus driver and the driver took back the vehicle. In this incident, the two persons suffered minor injuries. They are undergoing treatment in Capital Hospital.” “Both the Driver and Guide would have avoided the incident had they been alert and careful. Both the crew members are terminated with immediate effect. CRUT has been taking series of training programs for promoting safe driving. Every day, morning counselling is being done at all depots on safe driving and appropriate behaviour for all the crew members before bus out shedding. CRUT has also conducted 21000 breath analyser tests and 6000 checks for speed, lane driving and appropriate behaviour of crew since 07.11.2024. CRUT has also installed ADAS on four buses for testing on pilot basis,” it added. It further said, “Passenger and pedestrian safety remains our top priority. We are reinforcing awareness and implementing preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.”
