Bhubaneswar: A mega steel plant will be set up in the Patna area of Keonjhar district with an expected investment of range between Rs 30,000 crore and Rs 40,000 crore, announced Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today. While attending the 48th Annual Day function at Chandra Sekhar College in Champua of the district, Majhi said, “A mega steel plant will be established in the Patna area of Keonjhar district, with an investment expected to range between Rs 30,000 crore and Rs 40,000 crore. An MoU has been signed with JSW and POSCO for this project. We are in regular touch with all stakeholders to ensure the project is completed as soon as possible.” “Industrial projects of Rs 1 lakh crore will be set up in several places in Keonjhar, including Barbil, Joda, Champua, Suakati, Anandapur, Harichandanpur, and Champua. The state government is taking all necessary steps in this regard,” he added. The CM also highlighted the success of the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 saying that the state secured a total investment of Rs 17 lakh crore, out of which, approximately 145 MoUs for projects worth Rs 13 lakh crore have already been signed. These projects will generate around 9 lakh employment opportunities, he mentioned.
