Angul: Two Accountants of office of Civil Supplies Officer nabbed by vigilance while taking bribe

Angul: Odisha Vigilance officials nabbed two Junior Accountants of the office of Angul Civil Supplies Officer (CSO) while taking bribe of Rs 50,000 on Tuesday. The accused Junior Accountants have been identified as Rajnarayan Sahoo and Jiten Patnaik. The Vigilance officials apprehended the Junior Accountants while taking the bribe from Manager of a Rice Mill (Complainant) in lieu of disbursement of bill amount of over Rs 60 Lakhs relating to Fortified Rice Kernals (FRK) in favour of the Rice Mill. Since last one month, the Manager of the Rice Mill had been requesting Sahoo and Pattnaik, both the to release the pending amount. But, both the accused persons refused to release the FRK amount unless they were paid the demanded bribe Rs 50,000. Left with no option, the Manager reported the matter to Vigilance authorities, alleging harassment by both the Accountants. Following this, the accused persons were nabbed today by the team of Odisha Vigilance, while taking the demanded bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. The anti-corruption team also recovered the entire bribe money from both Sahoo and Pattnaik and seized. Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two places of each linked to Sahoo and Pattanaik from DA angle. In this connection, Vigilance Cell PS Case No.2 dtd: 3.3.2025 u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused persons.
