Minor girl dies of snakebite while playing in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In a heart-wrenching incident, a minor girl died reportedly after being bitten by a poisonous snake while playing infront of her house in Keonjhar district on Tuesday. Sonali Laguri, the daughter of one Sambhu Laguri of Jugudidara village under Joda Police Station limits of the district, was reportedly playing infront of her house today. In the meantime, a poisonous snake, which Sonali could not identify, suddenly appeared and bit her following which her health condition became extremely critical. Without any delay, the family members rushed Sonali to the Basudevpur Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. Later, on doctors’ advice she was shifted to the Champua Sub-Divisional Hospital as her health condition deteriorated further. But unfortunately, Sonali breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the government health centre. Sources said that the body will be handed over to the family members after completion of post-mortem. Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of the minor girl in snakebite, added the sources. The locals also demanded the district administration to provide an adequate compensation for Sonali’s bereaved family members.
