BJD calls for 12 hour Bandh in Raighar Block of Nabarangpur district

Umerkote: A 12-hour Bandh has been called by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Raighar Block of Nabarangpur district in Odisha, bringing normal life to a standstill. The shutdown, which began at 6 am today and will continue until 6 pm, has been organized in protest against irregularities in paddy procurement at the local Dhan Mandi. Farmers in the area are observing a black day in solidarity with the Bandh, resulting in the closure of all shops and markets in the city. The protest is primarily driven by the delayed payment of paddy sold by farmers to the mandi. Despite selling 14,252 quintals of paddy worth approximately Rs 4.5 crore since February, 344 farmers from the Raighar area have yet to receive payment, four months after the sale.
