Bhubaneswar: Taking a serious note of the death of a five-year-old female elephant in the Nakati Deula forest area in Sambalpur district, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered a probe. Apart from expressing his deep sorrow, the Odisha CM termed the incident tragic and unacceptable and assured that action will be taken against those responsible for the elephant’s death. Following the CM’s order for a high-level investigation, a team from Bhubaneswar, led by Chief Conservator of Forests Manoj Nayar, initiated a probe into the tragic incident. The team including senior officials from the Forest Department and the Electricity Department reached the area to carry out a detailed probe. It is to be noted here that the five-year-old female elephant died after coming into contact with a live wire allegedly laid by someone to steal electricity at Sarpali village in Sambalpur district.
