Kanyashram bridge submerged in heavy rain, communication cut off

Malkangiri AO correspondent: 25/7  Traffic is disrupted in Kalimela block and Podia block of Malkangiri district. Kanyashram bridge submerged in heavy rain.  Due to the 2 to 3 feet of flood water flowing over the bridge, the communication between Kalimela block and Podiya block has been completely cut off. Incessant heavy rains have severely affected life in Malkangiri district. Last night, 1 foot of water was seen flowing over the Kangrukonda bridge on National Highway No. 326, but in the morning, water was flowing under the bridge, so traffic in Malkangiri is normal, but the condition of Kanyashram bridge is still critical. So, from 8 am yesterday to 8 am today, i.e. in 24 hours, the maximum rainfall was 119 mm in Chitrakonda block, 33 mm in Kalimela, while 95 mm in Malkangiri block, 65 mm in Mathili block, 95 mm in Khairput block, 72 mm in Korukonda block, and 45 mm in Podiya block.  .So, flood water is still flowing over the Kanyashram bridge on the main road connecting Kalimela and Podia, due to which it is completely submerged. The flow of water is so fast that it is impossible to cross the bridge. As a result, a large number of people, vehicles and motor vehicles are stuck on both sides of the bridge, life is completely disrupted. Essential services are also being affected. So, the Dist administration is constantly monitoring the situation.
