Kalinganagr, August 14, 2025: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) has facilitated the placement of 15
girls from Odisha at the Tata Electronics advanced manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, as
part of its ongoing commitment to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
A formal ceremony took place at the Multi Skill Development Centre (MSDC) in Danagadi, Jajpur
district, to celebrate International Youth Day and honor the candidates before their departure for
Hosur.
The candidates were selected during a job drive held in June 2025, with 12 girls hailing from
Sukinda, Danagadi, and Korei blocks of Jajpur district, one from Harichandanpur block of Keonjhar
district, one from Sukruli block of Mayurbhanj district, and one from Mahanga block of Cuttack
district. In addition to salary, the candidates will receive food, lodging, and comprehensive medical
support from Tata Electronics, ensuring a smooth transition and stable living conditions as they
begin their new roles.
TSF has been dedicated to transformative change and the upliftment of livelihoods in communities
through various community-driven initiatives. Under its Skill Development Initiative, one of its
flagship programs is the Model Career Centre (MCC) — a joint initiative of Tata Steel Foundation
and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The MCC focuses on capacity building and creating
employment opportunities for the youth of Jharkhand and Odisha, actively nurturing strong industry
connections by conducting placement drives, career counselling sessions, and screening events to
prepare industry-ready candidates.
Recently, as part of its annual placement efforts, the MCC facilitated an opportunity with Tata
Electronics for the role of Assembly Operator at Hosur, exclusively for female candidates. Young
women from across Jharkhand and Odisha participated in the selection process, motivated by the
success of over 300 candidates from earlier batches who are already working with Tata Electronics. In this recent batch, 15 candidates from Odisha received joining offers. This initiative underscores
the Tata Steel Foundation’s role in linking skill development with direct employment, enabling young
people from Odisha to contribute to and benefit from India’s manufacturing sector.
