SUBARNAPUR– 18/8–Subarnapur district police have seized a Max Pickup with a huge quantity of ganja. ଏ max pickup with 7 quintals 72 kg 800 grams of ganja has been seized from Dangartal under Kamsara under Tarbha police station. Subarnapur Supdt. Of Police Narayan Naik gave detailed information in a press conference held in this regard. According to information, on Sunday night, Ashok Sahu of Narda village under Tarbha police station, his driver and team were planning to smuggle ganja across the Telanadi bridge( Boudh district Kantamal ) in a Bolero pickup max from Kantamal area and out on the Kamsara-Tarbha road. As the vehicle was being protected by 2 four-wheelers and 3 bikes, a police team led by Subarnapur Supdt. Of Police and Additional Supdt. Of Police was formed and chased from both Kantamal and Tarbha. After chasing the pick-up max from Dangartal near Kamsara village, the police team chasing the pick-up max from Kantamal succeeded in stopping it. The Bolero pickup max, bearing No. OR -19 G-9011 (appears to be fake), was found to be loaded with a huge quantity of ganja.
24 large bags of ganja were found to be loaded and the vehicle’s number plate was found to be fake. Later, when it was weighed in the presence of the magistrate, the quantity of seized ganja was found to be 7 quintals 72 kg 800 grams. Its market value is estimated to be around Rs 1.50 crore. Subarnapur Superintendent of Police Narayan Nayak and Additional Superintendent of Police K. Hari Prasad supervised the main incident site. The police informed that the vehicle piloting the vehicle was able to flee the scene of the incident. Later, late at night, a police team raided Ashok Sahu’s house and informed that Ashok was not at home, the Superintendent of Police informed. This large-scale ganja smuggling operation was carried out by the police team led by Kamasara Out Post SI Marut Chandra Pradhan of raided and Tarbha Police Station IIC Anita Kido. In this regard, a case no. 230 dated 18/08/2025 U/s-20(b)(ii)C NDPS Act. A case has been registered and the police are investigating the matter further. After the seizure of a large quantity of ganja, it became a topic of discussion in the area and a crowd of locals gathered to see the ganja. It is suspected that this ganja is being smuggled out through neighboring Chhattisgarh and it is believed that there is a connection with inter-state ganja traders.
