Kendrapara: A woman and her son, who went missing after going to catch crabs in Bhitarkanika area of Kendrapara district a couple of days ago, have reportedly been safely rescued by the forest officials today.As informed by sources, the mother and son duos, who have been identified as Anjana Mirdha and Ratindra Mirdha of Devendra Narayanpur village under Rajnagar Tehsil, were spotted and safely rescued by the forest officials from the Habala forest block of the Bhitarkanika National Park.After spotting the mother and son, the forest officials are bringing them in a boat with all safety measures. However, it is not known under what circumstances they reached the forest and did not return home even five days after their disappearance.It is to be noted here that both Anjana and her son Ratindra along with two other villagers left the home five days ago saying that they would be going to the Bhitarkanika to catch crabs. They reportedly went 10 km deep inside the Bhitarkanika forest and went missing.As Anjana and her Ratindra did not return home even after five days, the family members and the villagers raises serious concern over their disappearance and of were in the believe that the mother-son duo might have fallen victim to crocodile attack. However, in order to ascertain the exact truth of their disappearance, they informed the local police, forest personnel and other concerned officials and requested them to search the duo.Soon, the forest department formed 10 teams and launched a search operation with the help of other officials. The rescue teams, which used drones, traced the mother-son in the forest today successfully and provided them food and water before bringing them back. It will take around three hours for them to reach the bank of the river, informed the sources.Meanwhile, it is suspected that Anjana and Ratindra will be taken to the hospital for medical examination before being handed over to their family members.
