Hindalco MD reviews CSR projects at Meenakshi Coal Mines Inaugurates women’s handloom training centre, supports local schools and health initiatives

Bhubaneswar, October 17, 2025:

Aditya Birla Group company Hindalco Industries Ltd.’s Managing Director, Mr. Satish Pai, visited the Meenakshi Coal Mines to review its operational performance and assess the progress of ongoing community development and CSR initiatives. As part of his visit, Mr. Pai travelled to Kiripsira Panchayat in Sundargarh district to interact with beneficiaries and evaluate the impact of various welfare programmes.

Reaffirming Hindalco’s long-standing commitment to inclusive growth and social responsibility, Mr. Pai reviewed several skill-based livelihood, education, and women empowerment initiatives being implemented in the region. He also inaugurated new projects designed to strengthen the socio-economic fabric of local communities.

Mr. Pai was accompanied by Mrs. Vanvimone Pai, Mr. Kailash Pandey, Business Head – Mines & Sambalpur Cluster; Mr. Bijesh Jha, Head – Bauxite & Coal; and Mr. Krishna Padhi, Cluster Head – Human Resources; among other senior executives.

During the visit, Mr. Pai inaugurated a Silk Fibre Handloom and Handicraft Training Centre, aimed at empowering women with sustainable income opportunities and promoting traditional craftsmanship. To enhance educational infrastructure, he distributed desk benches to nearby schools, creating better learning conditions for students. In addition, school bags were handed over to children enrolled in local Anganwadi Centres, reinforcing Hindalco’s focus on early childhood education.

Under the company’s flagship CSR initiative, “Nikshay”, food kits were distributed to families of tuberculosis (TB) patients, strengthening Hindalco’s efforts in promoting community health and nutrition.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satish Pai said, “At Hindalco, we believe that true progress lies in the well-being of the communities around us. Through our CSR interventions, we aim to create lasting social impact by fostering education, empowering women, and enhancing healthcare and livelihoods.”

The event was attended by Mrs. Kunti Pradhan, President of Sundargarh Zilla Parishad; Mrs. Rebati Chatria, Sarpanch of Kiripsira Panchayat; and other local administrative officials. The programmes were coordinated by Ms. Niharika Sahoo, CSR Head, under the guidance of Mr. Mukesh Jha, Unit Head, Meenakshi Coal Mines.
