Bhubaneswar : Reinforcing its unwavering commitment to workplace safety and collective
responsibility, Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga, a unit of Hindalco Industries Limited (HIL),
successfully organized a high-impact motivational program titled “Suraksha Sankalp – Building a
Culture of Care and Commitment” at its Expansion Project premises.
The initiative marked a significant step toward deepening safety consciousness across all levels
of the organization, with a sharp focus on shop-floor practices and behaviour-based safety.
The program was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Umakanta Samantray, Assistant
Director – Factories & Boilers, along with Mr. J.P. Nayak, Unit Head, and Mr. Kamal Kant
Pandey, Project Head. Senior leaders including Mr. Eswar Rao, Mr. Abhay Mishra, Mr. Deepak
Dash, Mr. Prabira Pujari, Mr. Kuntal Das and Mr. Ravi Pratap Singh, besides representatives
from HIL and its business partners, also attended the event.
Participation in the program was overwhelming, with more than 500 attendees comprising
senior leadership, middle management, engineers, supervisors and workmen from both HIL and
contractor organisations. The enthusiastic turnout reflected the growing collective resolve to
embed safety as a core value rather than a mere compliance requirement.
The event featured a series of engaging and thought-provoking sessions including incident
learning discussions, workmen speeches, a safety quiz and a safety skit, all designed to create
awareness through real-life experiences and interactive learning. These activities emphasized
strict adherence to safety guidelines, the importance of peer-to-peer correction and the need
to empower every individual to take ownership of safety at the workplace.
Addressing the gathering, the AD (Factories & Boilers) highlighted the critical role of
implementing industrial safety regulations to prevent accidents and near-miss incidents. His
practical insights and field-based examples were well received by the audience, prompting the
HIL management to seek his continued guidance in future safety initiatives.
Both the Unit Head and the Project Head reinforced the importance of behaviour-based safety,
sharing practical examples from operations to inspire consistent safe practices.
To recognize and encourage exemplary efforts, more than 60 employees and associates were
felicitated for their significant contributions in implementing and promoting safety standards at
the site.
The program concluded on a high note, reaffirming Aditya Aluminium’s steadfast commitment
to building a robust safety culture, operational excellence and a workplace where care and
commitment go hand in hand.
