Delhi air quality worsens, AQI settles in severe zone

New Delhi, 14/12: There seems to be no respite for the people of Delhi, as the AQI slipped into the ‘severe category with a reading of 459, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. People were left grasping for clean air as the toxic fumes and a thick layer of smog laid seige to India’s capital.

As per the CPCB, an Air Quality Index (AQI) between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
