Mayurbhanj: A woman was allegedly murdered by her son following suspicion of witchcraft in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha on Wednesday. The incident took place at Kalaraphulia village under Bhaliadiha panchayat within Betanati police station limits.The accused, identified as Tapan Singh, allegedly hacked Raimani Singh, to death with a sharp weapon.According to sources, a few months ago, the accused’s wife had lost her unborn child. After the incident, Tapan Singh reportedly suspected his mother of practising witchcraft and believed she was responsible for the tragedy.On Wednesday morning, acting under blind superstition, the accused attacked his mother, killing her on the spot. Neighbours alerted by the screams, rushed to the house and found the woman lying in a pool of blood. They immediately informed the police. After reaching the spot, Police seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
