Kendrapara: Six migrant workers from Odisha’s Kendrapara district are reportedly stranded in Thailand. They have claimed that they are not getting wages wages and also don’t have adequate food. The youths had travelled abroad in search of employment in the plywood sector but are now facing severe hardship.The workers have been identified as Yashobant Sahu of Kujipura village under Jayanagar panchayat, Jayanta Mallick of Nuagaon, Prashant Raut of Upulai under Baradia panchayat, Hemanta Behera of Katanabania, and Manoranjan Sahu of Koudiapal village in Chandabali block.According to information, they had gone to Thailand in August last year. Two agents, Om Prakash and Jai Prakash from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly took them to the Chon Buri area on tourist visas with the promise of providing jobs. Though they worked for a few days after reaching there, they have not been paid for the past four months, they have claimed.The situation has worsened with the workers claiming that they have been without proper food for the last five days. Helpless and unable to return home, the six youths have posted videos on social media, seeking help from the government for their rescue and repatriation.
