During Question Hour in the Assembly, Rajnagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo asked about measures to boost tourism. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who heads the Tourism Department, outlined the government’s comprehensive promotion and development programs.She explained that under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has adopted a wide-ranging strategy. Digital marketing campaigns run across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X. Outdoor branding includes hoardings, banners, bus branding, and airport displays in major cities. Electronic media promotions feature radio jingles, TV commercials, and documentaries. Print newsletters, brochures, and magazines highlight Odisha’s cultural and natural heritage.The government also participates in national and international tourism fairs, organises roadshows, and arranges familiarisation trips for travel agents. Plans include developing new tourism circuits and upgrading key destinations.Parida confirmed that significant funds were spent on tourism promotion and development over the last three fiscal years, with increased allocations for 2025–26. Special projects focus on enhancing the Puri-Konark-Bhubaneswar triangle, Chilika Lake, wildlife sanctuaries, and spiritual sites.Sahu welcomed the initiatives but urged the government to monitor the quality and impact of promotional activities. He said effective implementation could strengthen Odisha’s tourism industry and boost the state’s economy.Tourism enthusiasts expect visible results soon as Odisha accelerates efforts to position itself as a premier travel destination.
