SP takes urgent action after High Court order: 15 Migrant Labourers rescued from Telangana

Subarnapur, 1/3 —- Police have rescued 15 migrant labourers who were trapped in a brick factory in Mancherial area of ​​Telangana state. Subarnapur police, Balangir and Subarnapuur labour department officials have rescued the said migrant labourers. It is reported that 7 of the rescued labourers are from Subarnapur district and 8 from Balangir district. This was informed by Supdt. Of Police Narayan Nayak at a press conference held at Subarnapur district police headquarters. According to information, in November 2025, 6 people including Debarchan Meghani of Nagapali village under Sonepur police station in Subarnapur district and 7 other people including Sudam Das of Fased village under Loisingha police station in Balangir district were rescued from Telangana state. He went to work in a brick factory in Mancherial area. While working in the brick factory, he did not get proper remuneration and always faced oppression from the owner. In this regard, the brick workers Kunja Bharati approached the Odisha High Court. The High Court heard the case in WP(C )No. 3538/2026 and delivered its verdict. In the said verdict, it directed the Subarnapur Supdt. Of Police to take appropriate steps to rescue the tortured brick workers. After this, the District IAHTU Cell immediately contacted the trapped brick workers there along with the District Labour Officer. With the help of the Odisha Government Communication Officer in Telangana State, the place where the trapped workers were working was identified. The workers were rescued from there. After the rescue, they were brought to Sonepur by train on 27/02/2026. All the brick workers were taken to Subarnapur District Labour Officer and Balangir District Labour Officer and Police Department. The workers has been handed over to the family in the presence of the officer. The complaint made by the workers will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken, informed Subarnapur Superintendent of Police Narayan Nayak in a press conference.
