The Confiscation Court in Bhubaneswar ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets worth over Rs 1.27 crore belonging to former Executive Engineer Prafulla Kumar Panigrahi.The order, passed by the Authorised Officer of the Special Court (Vigilance), includes immovable properties such as a multi-storeyed building at Tulasi Nagar, Berhampur, and three plots in Rajendra Nagar Sahi, Tulasi Nagar, Berhampur, in Ganjam district.Panigrahi, who served as Executive Engineer of the Jonk Canal Irrigation Division in Nuapada, faced charges under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Odisha Vigilance filed a charge sheet against him for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.During the trial, the Special Judge of the Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar convicted Panigrahi on March 31, 2014, for holding disproportionate assets. The confiscation order marks the culmination of legal proceedings against him, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to fighting corruption
