3,176 Police Posts Vacant in Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Assembly that 3,176 police posts remain vacant across the state’s 706 police stations.He revealed that out of 14,528 sanctioned positions, these vacancies continue to affect law enforcement capacity.Responding to a query from MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Majhi said the government is taking steps to address the shortfall through recruitment, promotions, and transfers. He emphasised that strengthening police manpower is crucial for maintaining law and order and improving public safety.The Chief Minister acknowledged the challenges posed by vacant posts but assured legislators that the process to fill them is underway. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring adequate staffing in police stations across Odisha.
