7 killed in separate mishaps across Odisha on Tuesday

Bhubaneswar, March 31: At least seven people lost their lives in separate accidents across Odisha on Tuesday, while several others sustained injuries. The injured were rescued and admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.In Ganjam district, two persons were killed after a stone-laden tractor rammed into a motorcycle near Bhusunda Chhak under Digapahandi police limits. The mishap reportedly occurred due to overspeeding. The tractor driver fled the spot soon after the accident. Police have reached the scene and launched an investigation. The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.In another incident in Sambalpur district, two workers died after a newly constructed septic tank collapsed at Kesaibahal under Kuchinda. Four workers were trapped inside during the incident. While two died due to suffocation, two others sustained critical injuries and were admitted to a hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Sushil Naik and Bhikari Charan Behera.Meanwhile, in Cuttack, the death toll in a late-night road accident near Taladanda Canal rose to three. The accident involved a head-on collision between a Tata Ace and a motorcycle. Two persons died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment. One of the deceased has been identified as Rajalakshmi Swain.
