Rayagada:In a significant breakthrough against Left Wing Extremism, Rayagada Police have achieved a major success by recovering a large cache of arms, explosives, and other materials belonging to banned CPI (Maoist) cadres. The recovery was made by the District Voluntary Force (DVF) during intensive search operations along the Rayagada–Kandhamal border areas.This development comes shortly after 15 CPI (Maoist) cadres surrendered before Rayagada Police, marking a positive step towards peace and normalcy in the region.According to police sources, the search operations were carried out under the jurisdiction of Muniguda and Ambadola Police Stations, targeting forest and interior areas suspected to have been used by Maoist groups for hiding weapons and logistical supplies.During the operation near Pajigarega village under Muniguda Police Station limits, security personnel recovered two single-shot guns and one BGL gun. In addition, eight bundles of cordex and as many as 415 detonators were seized from the same area, indicating preparations for potential subversive activities.In another operation near Ambrikhol village under Ambadola Police Station, three bags containing approximately 29 kilograms of high explosive materials were recovered. This is considered a major seizure, as such materials could have been used for large-scale destructive activities.Further searches conducted in the forest area near Patrani village under Ambadola Police limits led to the recovery of one HP laptop, a laptop charger with pouch, two bundles of electric wires, a red cloth, two packets suspected to be used for blood sample connection, and one plastic container. These items are believed to have been used for communication, planning, and medical purposes by the Maoist cadres.Police officials stated that the recovery of such a huge quantity of arms and explosives has significantly weakened the operational capability of the banned outfit in the region.
