The Odisha government extended the Kharif paddy procurement period by seven days to ensure that no farmer’s token lapses during the ongoing season.Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra announced the decision, stressing its importance in safeguarding farmers’ interests. He said the extension will allow all registered farmers to sell their produce without disruption.During the current Kharif season, the state has already procured 77 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. A total of 18.64 lakh farmers successfully sold their harvest, receiving payments directly into their bank accounts. The government confirmed that Rs 22,884 crore has been transferred to farmers so far.
