IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert Across Odisha till April 9

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a thunderstorm alert across Odisha, forecasting heavy rain and strong winds till April 9.The weather department placed 26 districts under a yellow alert today and four districts under an orange warning for tomorrow.Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar will experience intense thunderstorm activity under the orange warning. The IMD predicted wind speeds between 40 and 50 km per hour, accompanied by lightning and rainfall in these areas.For tomorrow, 23 districts will remain under yellow alert, signalling moderate thunderstorm conditions. The department advised residents to stay indoors during lightning and avoid waterlogged areas.Morning skies cleared briefly across several regions, but evening showers returned with strong gusts. The IMD expects the thunderstorm pattern to persist until April 9, affecting the coastal and northern parts of the state.Authorities urged people to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines. Farmers were advised to delay fieldwork and protect crops from heavy winds and rain.
