He was serving as a teacher at a government high school in Balishankara. His wife, Sushama Nayak, who is also a teacher, narrowly escaped the mishap.According to reports, the couple was travelling in their SUV (Bolero) from Mahulpali to Sundargarh around 8 am. Nayak was driving the vehicle, while his wife was seated beside him. Near Tangarpali, close to a gas agency, their vehicle collided with a scooter.Following the collision, Nayak reportedly went into shock and suffered a cardiac arrest. He was immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.His wife sustained minor injuries and survived the accident.Police have taken note of the incident, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the collision.
