Baripada, May 7: In a shocking ATM robbery in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, miscreants adopted a new tactic by spraying red paint on CCTV cameras before looting cash from an SBI ATM at Bangala Chhak under Khunta police limits. The incident took place late on Wednesday night.According to sources, the robbers first sprayed red paint on the CCTV camera installed outside the ATM kiosk and later covered all cameras inside the ATM chamber to destroy evidence and avoid identification. They then used a gas cutter to break open the ATM machine and looted the cash kept inside the cash tray.The miscreants also reportedly damaged the alarm siren fearing it might alert nearby residents during the robbery. After executing the heist, they fled the spot with the stolen money.The matter came to light on Thursday morning, following which Khunta police along with a scientific team reached the spot and launched an investigation. The exact amount of cash stolen is yet to be confirmed.
