The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will observe the Snana yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on Monday, June 29, 2026, marking Jyestha Shukla Purnima.In view of special rituals and advance preparations, temple authorities announced that public darshan will remain suspended from 10:30 PM on Saturday, June 27, until 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 28.The Snanajatra, one of the most revered ceremonies in the Jagannath tradition, involves the ritual bathing of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra. Thousands of devotees gather annually to witness this sacred event, which symbolises purification and divine renewal.Officials from the Puri Police issued a public notice urging devotees to plan their temple visits accordingly. The suspension aims to ensure the smooth conduct of rituals and maintain security during the preparations.Temple priests and servitors will perform elaborate rituals inside the sanctum, including the ceremonial bathing of the deities with 108 pitchers of aromatic water. The event precedes the Anasara period, when the deities are believed to rest before the grand Rath Yatra.Authorities have also deployed additional security personnel around the temple and nearby areas to manage crowd movement and maintain order. Devotees are encouraged to follow official updates and cooperate with temple administration during the restricted hours.
